The Executive Board of Wageningen UR has per 1 September 2009 appointed Dr Ernst van den Ende (46) as General Director of the Plant Sciences Group (PSG). He succeeds Prof. Raoul Bino who takes up a position at TU Delft as of that date. PSG, with a total staff of over 1300 employees, consists of the Plant Sciences Department of Wageningen University, the institute Plant Research International, and Applied Plant Research
Van den Ende studied Phytopathology at Wageningen University and took his PhD with the Wageningen phytopathologist Prof. Zadoks as supervisor. He then worked as researcher at various experimental stations dealing with fruit and horticulture. Since 2004 he has been manager of the business unit Bulbs, Nursery Stock and Fruit of Applied Plant Research (PPO), part of PSG.
